PCR Test

The PCR test has been the gold standard test for diagnosing COVID-19, as it’s the most accurate and reliable testing option. The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test for COVID-19 is a molecular test that analyzes your upper respiratory specimen, looking for genetic material (ribonucleic acid or RNA) of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. PCR tests can be completed with different types of nasal swabs, including nasal swabs that collect a sample immediately inside your nostrils, and nasopharyngeal swabs that go further into the nasal cavity for collection. Either type of swab is sufficient for collecting material for the COVID-19 PCR test. After collection, the swab is sealed in a tube and then sent to our CLIA certified lab partner for processing. Clinically verified results are sent via email or through a HIPAA compliant patented software.

Rapid Antibody Test

An antibody, also called an immunoglobulin, is a protective protein produced by the immune system in response to the presence of a foreign substance, or an antigen. Antibody tests are not used to diagnose current infection. Antibodies are detected in the blood of people who have been previously infected with COVID-19, and may also be detected after receiving the vaccine. Antibodies show the body’s efforts or preparedness to fight off the virus. Once the antibodies are made, they may protect people from getting infected or getting severely ill for some period of time afterward. Antibodies, whether from infection or vaccination, diminish over time. How quickly antibodies wane is different for each disease and each person. The length of time that people will carry antibodies for COVID-19 is currently unknown, which is why regular testing is recommended. Preliminary results are available in 10-15 minutes. Clinically verified results are sent via email or through a HIPAA compliant patented software.

*Results may vary depending on an individual’s antibody levels and the type of antibody test being administered.

Rapid Antigen Test

A rapid antigen test is a rapid diagnostic test that directly detects the presence or absence of a specific viral antigen, such as SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Antigen tests can be completed with different types of nasal swabs, including nasal swabs that collect a sample immediately inside your nostrils, and nasopharyngeal swabs that go further into the nasal cavity for collection. Antigen tests are beneficial for repeat testing to quickly identify people with COVID-19, so infection prevention and control measures can be put into place right away, thus preventing transmission. Preliminary results are available in 10-15 minutes. Clinically verified results are sent via email or through a HIPAA compliant patented software.
